The chakras, physical and mental energy centers

The chakras, physical and mental energy centers

The stress and our current lifestyles can cause many of us physical and mental suffering. Knowing the chakras and how they work can help us develop our self-awareness and bring about an improvement in our ailments. The Sanskrit word “chakra” means “wheel” and refers to the energy centers that make up our consciousness, our energy system and our physical body. There are seven main chakras, corresponding to the main nerve plexuses in the human body and also to certain areas of consciousness. They have both physical and psychological functions, and are all interconnected. When there’s tension in our consciousness, it’s also reflected in the associated chakra and body parts. Represented by rainbow-colored lotus flowers, these seven spiritual centers possess their own unique qualities.Sahasrara: Collective consciousness and harmony. It is associated with the pineal gland and represents the Agnya coronal center : collective consciousness and intuition. It is associated with the3rd eye. Vishuddhi: Communication, self-respect, respect for others and creativity. It is associated with the throat. Anahata : Self-confidencelove, compassion. It is associated with the heart. Nabhi: Sensitivity, inner peace, generosity. It is associated with the belly. Swadhistan: Attention and knowledge, emotion. It is associated with sex. Mooladhara: Security, wisdom and joy. Placed at the perineum, this basic shakra draws its nourishment directly from nature. We can feel better in mind and body by becoming aware of these chakras and learning to open and balance them using simple techniques taught by specially trained therapists.
